Cool interview with Louise Day

I was lucky enough to be able to interview talented singer and songwriter Louise Day. After reading the interview go to her website and find out more about her.

Hey Louise, what have you been getting up to recently… anything mega exciting?

I am currently working on my new album, so writing lots of songs, doing pre–production etc. I have set up a studio to help me along. For a muso all of the above are mega exciting, making music is the best part

What’s it like playing huge arenas in front of loads of people?

Nothing beats a live show, from a huge audience to a small intimate gig, it’s an amazing feeling to show people what you are all about. Big productions can be kind of daunting, but rewarding at the same time. I don’t really get nervous, just tingles in my fingertips, weird hey?

Is it daunting going out on stage and having so many people looking up at you?

I’m a Leo- so I can’t lie and say I completely mind the attention The only time it’s daunting is when something goes wrong- like the sound, or you trip or something like that. Luckily it doesn’t happen too often, but even a second of silence can be a lifetime when you on stage!

You have been producing some really cool music… what has the reaction been like from the fans?

So far so good! We worked on our last album with producer Theo Crous and really tried to make the sound more upbeat with more of a rock feel. The last album “Swallowed by the City’ had a lot of meaning for me and the band and we have got some really great feedback on the album as a whole.

Is there a certain process you go through when writing songs?

I write down thoughts, lines and words I like all the time. When I sit down to write there isn’t a specific process as such- songs kind of just happen. Sometimes the best ones are the ones that just fall into place. I do find a nice glass of red wine can help the process

So if you had the chance to sing with another artist, who would it be?

Very hard question and this answer changes daily, maybe even hourly. But today, in this hour- after watching ‘Adele Live at the Albert Hall’ DVD last night, it would probably be her. Man, that lady can sure captivate a room. I love her music, it’s so real and full of heart, something I find so important in the music I enjoy.

What has been the proudest moment in your career?

Seeing my album on the shelf in the music store for the first time. It felt so good to see something that I had created out there in the world, a proper product. I guess it was the culmination of a year of hard work, and I had a beaming moment

What do you think is the hardest part of doing what you do?

The business side of music… It’s a battlefield out there, and you have got to be so careful about the people you choose to work with and the decisions you make in your career.

If you could go back in time and prevent a huge catastrophe, which would it be?

My attempt at a ‘Jennifer Aniston’ haircut in the 90’s ;) Huge catastrophe… But seriously, I guess September 11, I was in the USA soon after the attack and when I went to Ground Zero there was just such a feeling of loss for such a proud nation.

My sister Michelle wanted to ask you - “What do you think of the idea of having a pygmie hippos as a pet?”

Well the pygmie hippo is a nocturnal animal so in that regard we would get on quite well, not sure if he would fit in my pool though

I am planning on interviewing your manager next! Can you come up with a difficult question for me to ask him?
