The Best Burger in Cape Town

Cape Town is filled with some amazing restaurants and bars. There also happen to be a few "burger joints" that are churning out burgers as good as you will find anywhere else in the world. The burgers taste amazing, the restaurants are cool and the vibe is funky. Have a read and tell us what you think.

I remember when I was a kid and I used to go to the Spur for a burger. If my memory serves me correctly I used to order a Guacamole burger with a Lime milkshake. Then Planet Hollywood hit the Waterfront and everyone flocked there. Things have really changed and we are really spoilt for choice now.

Royale Eatery has been around for several years now and pretty much every burger loving Capetonian has sampled their delicious fare. Their menu, suitably entitled Stories From Beyond The Grill - A Tale of Griddle Pans, Spatulas and Melted Cheese pretty is filled with some mouthwatering choices. The one that caught my eye was the BopBop Burger which is described as being a 150g basted beef patty, served with gherkins, tomato, red onion, home made mayo and something called Mama's Son of a B*tch Chilli Sauce on the side.

If you take a look around Cape Town you will find that if it's a good quality burger you are looking for that you are spoilt for choice.  There’s good old  Hudsons and Beefcakes - who have both been around for a while and have developed their own faithful fan base.

I know that Café Caprice do a pretty damm good Royal Burger with bacon, cheese, chilli and onion rings. The de facto home of bronzed bodies, sarongs and the latest Ray Ban shades, Café Caprice is loved by a cool set of loyal fans from locals to international stars and sportsmen, and has always been the place to see and be seen by those who enjoy kicking back in one of the world’s most beautiful settings. You have got to admit you don't get much of a more beautiful place to hang out than Cafe Caprice.

Clarks in Bree Street is also pretty awesome. They have a Burger called a Hamburger Fatty Melt which is a hamburger inbetween two grilled cheese sandwiches which I havn't tried yet but does look yummy.

The Loading Bay in Hudson Street has a burger Thursday evening special where your burger comes with truffle salted fries and you can finish off your meal with a chocolate milkshake and cookies.

Boo Radleys is well worth a visit. Located just off Hout Street Boo’s takes you back in time to a bygone era of New York flair and style. There is only one burger on the menu the ‘Beef Burger’ and trust me it's all you need. The crisp bun houses a juicy, creamy burger where the salad is crisp, the tomato ripe and it is all served with delectable fries and flawless presentation.

Gourmet Burger is well worth a mention. They have two restaurants one in Cavendish and the other in Heritage Square. Their Mexican Chilli burger with Mozzarella, grilled chillies and a chilli sauce is really really good.

There really are some amazing places to frequent in Cape Town if a good burger is what you are after. If you know of somewhere else that serves a killer burger please share your thoughts.
