Ster-Kinekor have announced that they will no longer be advertising their movie schedule in South African newspapers. I am guessing that this is the way of the future but boy this is another big loss in revenue for the newspapers.

Cape Town - One of South Africa’s top film distribution companies will no longer be featuring their movie schedules in newspapers, a report said on Tuesday.

"After months of careful consideration and analysis we have reached the conclusion that our investment in this media channel is not bringing the attendance figures we had hoped," Doug Place, marketing executive for Ster-Kinekor Theatres was quoted by iAfrica.com as saying.

Place also said that their “core target market” are reading fewer newspapers and are instead using online and mobile media.

Titles affected in Gauteng are: The Star, Saturday Star, Pretoria News, Pretoria Weekend and Sunday Independent.

Newspapers affected in Durban are: The Daily News, The Isolezwe, The Mercury, Daily News, The Independent and the Sunday Tribune.

In Cape Town, the Cape Times, Cape Argus and Weekend Argus will be affected.
